Been seeing here and there that adding an additional leaf spring to the oil pump chain tensioner can prevent the chain from contacting the front pickup tube. I have not seen any information on how to actually do it without removing the timing chain cover. Doing rod bearings so I decided to see if it was possible to fit in a third leaf spring (it has 2 from factory) and I think it is.
For reference, the PN for the spring tensioner is 11411317650
To remove the leaf springs from a new tensioner open the 2 tangs (in green) so the springs can be removed.

Here is the tensioner with the spring removed, you will see the 2 retention ribs (blue and red arrows) that keep the spring from walking out of the tensioner:

Here is the factory tensioner in the engine. Insert the top of the new leaf under the tangs (green arrows) and then under the pivot (blue arrow) until the bottom of the spring reaches the bottom of the first locating rib:

Inserting the new spring under the tangs and up towards the pivot:

Picture of new leaf pushed in until the bottom reaches the first retaining rib:

Now the tough part, I didnt get a picture but using a sharp pick tool, reach under the bottom of the new leaf (red arrow) and bend it up so it can go over the first retaining rib. The picture above shows the bottom of the spring almost over it, but when you first insert the spring that bottom portion will be exerting force downwards into the back of the tensioner, making it hard to get a pick under it. You also could maybe hold a flat blade screwdriver in place on the bottom of the tensioner while inserting the new spring so its easier to get under the bottom of the spring to lever it into its final position.
Picture of new leaf installed correctly:

All done, hopefully it helps keep the chain off the pickup tube.
