    S54 sounds

Hello everybody previously I have replaced five rocker arms due to it being damaged, I did valve adjustment 4 times, I’m just wondering, is this how the car is supposed to sound like I want to make sure before I go on track in November! The video is a cold start!

And the video? S54 is a bit tappy compared to modern cars, but should not sound like a bag of spanners either

It sounds pretty normal. Did you remove the cylinder head to replace the rocker arms?

I did do a head job few months back, but that’s just because I wanted to replace the head gasket, I only removed vanos and cam to remove and reinstall rocker arms after the head job!

I hear the same ticking around the egr area but at the same time I put a screw driver on the cover and I don’t hear any abnormal ticking

                    Change your oil

I have lost count now how many back to back oil changes i have had to do to finally quieten my engine down

and the oil is actually staying clean now

i am using 10w60 castrol at the moment

Honestly you're probably just fine I would put some miles on the car and keep an eye on it at first you're most likely okay though

The exhaust manifold nuts to cylinder head are torqued to 15 NM according to the Torque PDF. Hand tight is not tight enough. Easy to check if you have a 1/4" torque wrench. If there is an small exhaust leak at the headers, it could be causing the deeper tapping sound, which is not concerning loud TBH.
