So I've been contemplating switch my tail lights back to halogen. My M is a 02, and I put OE LEDs in it about 5 or 6 years ago. I am thinking about making it more period correct by putting halogens back in. Another thing is that they are cheaper if I ever needed to buy new housings for whatever reason, and if a bulb goes out, I don't have to replace the entire assembly (to fix it properly anyway). Also, you hardly ever see Ms with halogen tails anymore, and when I do see it, it looks so much cleaner to me these days........talk me out of switching back LOL.

Am I mad for wanting to switch back to halogen tail lights?

Beyond the added cost, if you like them better, then just do it. I have the red/orange tail lights for my OG and i cant imagine it without them. I do think the LEDs look better for the red/orange combo but the price difference wasnt worth it to me
so, if you can sell your LEDs for the cost of the older atyle, then get what you really want because otherwise, everytime you look you wonder if you should

I never got on with aftermarket lighting. I just don't like the way the Eagle and Depot LEDs look. They just look "off". So I might as well go back to OE halogen, and just replace bulbs instead of the entire assembly.
I replaced one tail light in my Non-M e46 facelift coupe about 4 years ago, a ULO one and looked identical to genuine one. I wish i ordered the other side as they were only $220 at the time on FCP Euro, and you can get amber LED as well. Kinda sucks to go through my order history on FCP euro and see things i cant buy anymore.2004 M3 6MT |Eventuri Intake|

elrichmeister It is crazy. I went on ECS tuning and the OE LEDs are like $750 for the driver side and $530 for the passenger side. OR, you can get the set for a low price of $1,600.
