Removing sound deadening with dry ice – can it damage underbody protection?

    Hey guys,

I’m planning to remove the sound deadening using dry ice soon, but I’m wondering if the extreme cold could somehow damage the underbody protection or cause it to crack or separate from the metal.

The car is pretty old, so the coating underneath might be a bit aged and brittle. Would you say it’s safe to go ahead, or is there a real risk of affecting the underbody coating when the dry ice cools down the floorpan from inside?

Any first-hand experience or advice would be appreciated

Pro-tip, a heatgun works way better then dry ice to remove sound deadening.

Both methods will not damage the underbody protection coatings.

Heat gun my man. That plus some plastic prying tools or old credit cards or whatever, get some goo gone as well or bug and tar remover.

I'll just say that removing sound deadening sucks. (Thats assuming you are doing it to meet a requirement (like a cage) and are doing it properly.)
