I started piecing together some parts and other random things for jobs I have coming up; one is a valve adjust I'm going to tackle for the first time (although I've had the cover off in the past). So, I threw in a couple (2) 11121437395 valve cover grommets (#12 in RealOEM diagram) to recent FCP and ECS orders. DPH for $0.39 each, and Genuine for $2.19 each. Both came loose in packages marked with the respective seller's logo.
According to FCP, the DPH parts are made in Italy and from some photos I've found online, the Genuine are made in India. Now, I don't know the materials of these parts, but found the visual differences interesting and thought I'd share here. The DPH parts have much less flash without any white chalky residue and appear to have flatter flat surfaces and more roundness in the opening.
I am not sure which parts I'll run but since I usually keep spare small parts around and won't do this job for a few months, I thought I'd throw a few bucks at an experiment of sorts.
DPH Markings:
DPH Germany 354281 (then what I'm guessing is the mold identifier number)
Genuine Markings:
(what I'm guessing is the mold marking) MAE 1437395
In the photos, the DPH parts are always on the bottom (for some reason my pictures are rotated after I upload them).
