Bought a car with Dinan Software/Intake, question about headers and tune.

Bought a new to me zcp from a buddy of mine, that came with a bunch of Dinan bits.not my first m3, but first dealing with dinan stuff.

In particular it has the DInan Intake, and software to go along with.
I know dinan relocates the IAT.

1.) If i installed headers catless or even headers/eurocats, and leave the dinan software, is that ok?

2.) Do most other tunes, BJ, Evolve etc... tune for the relocated IAT with a dinan intake?

    Thanks

I called Dinan for a tune I had a few years back and they would not do anything that violated emissions. Going catless is not something Dinan will do tuning wise. EPA has them by the balls

You can turn off codes and monitoring for the rear O2 (which only measure cat efficiency, as opposed to front O2 which is used for engine management) separately from an engine tune. Whether the Dinan tune will automatically adjust and optimize for the increased exhaust flow is another story, but a lot of people seem to run a stock tune despite increasing airflow out. The platforms I've owned in the past really required you to tune for catless to maximize gains.

IAT relocation is just a different place to get the same signal. If you search on this forum there seems to be a mixed opinion on whether IAT relocation really does much in a real world (not on a dyno) situation.

The MAF is a cost efficient, simple method considering Bosch had already been designing them that way. I feel as though moving it closer to the engine will heatsoak it more. I doubt a few degrees variance in temperature will make a difference but technically the closer to the ports it is, the more accurate it will be. It makes sense on paper like my underdrive pulleys.

Do some air density math at your altitude with temperatures. Don't forget humidity either.

Check to make sure your car actually has the IAT relocated. Lots of people leave out that part of the install.

I found the Dinan tune to be worse then stock when I picked the car up in '10.... went with evolve-R and I've been pretty happy with it.

Yah this car had it all installed new, including the IAT.
Yes i agree i can code out the rear o2 DTCs.

I just wanted to make sure, i wouldn't cause any harm/problems,with running the dinan canned software, due to increased exhuast flow mainly, i dont really care too much about power at this time.

Ideally id like to swap the intake for an eventuri, but may be more of a headache/waste of $.

A retune would be ideal, but it wouldn't cause any more harm than running that hardware on a stock tune, which plenty of people do.

Don't bother with the eventuri. The gains over your Dinan will be minimal. Either stay where you are or go all the way and get a CSL rep box

Pretty sure you’re local to me (I’m in Medford), glad to help with a CSL box install and wiring if you want

                    (well after COVID I guess)
