    Passing emissions with no cats.

Need to replace my cats on my E46 M3. Thinking about going catless. But worried about passing emission testing here in Illinois. What’s everyone solution to this. Budget friendly preferred. Maybe catted section 1 but none of them have o2 bungs and it seems so complicated. From one problem to the other, can’t catch a break this year.

I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice.

I have a guy that can make all of the monitors constantly on ready.

Go cheap cats... split them in half... hollow them out... then have a welder weld the two shell halves back together over the straight pipe to give the appearance of cats. Weld in bungs and screw in O2 sensors. Passes the monitors and visual.

But you didnt he that from me.

Do you guys ever get fucked with for the Montana plates in California? By cops or by your insurance?

YMMV. It depends on too many factors to give a specific answer. Like everything else, don’t believe everything you see, hear or read. But also, do pay any sales tax on vehicle purchases as and where applicable, regardless of tags.

I don’t have the 550 anymore. Fcars with MT tags are a different kettle of fish (and risk category) for sure.

The skyline has received more thumbs up and positive reactions from the police than I can count.

I put maybe 1000 miles per year on the M3, it mostly gets trailered around to car shows and sits in a garage, so I haven't had any issues yet... knock on wood.

FWIW I spent a lot of money and time trying to register a Dinan S3-R in California, and ultimately gave up, but if I could have gone legit I would have.

Just no literally no. M3 cats are already 200 cell. if you can't afford new cats you can't afford an e46m3 yet. So maybe just sell the car. Driving without any cats is literally not normal anymore thats just shitty (my 2 cents)

Im pretty sure US M3 cats are 400 cell and in headers... Euro cats are 200 cell and downstream in sec 1. Someone correct me if im wrong.
