    Seized Throttle Activation Shaft

    Good morning!

    First post here.. I picked up a project 04 m3 about a month ago. Had EML light among other things - seller had no clue what to do. Just a young guy without a scanner and a non running m3. But after hours of tinkering and scanning I came to the conclusion that the needle bearings along the rotating throttle shaft had seized. Was able to safely rock it back and forth with some wd40 and channel locks until it broke free. Of course I disconnected all the linkage from the shaft to the throttle bodies and the actuator first so I could eliminate all the tension. Wrapped the shaft in electrical tape to protect it from scarring.. and went for it.

    just wanted to share this with anyone who might think their throttle bodies are stuck on their s54! I searched for days, cleaned everything, replaced sensors and after all that.. came to realize I just needed some lube and persuasion to get the damn thing moving.

    more or less I scored a fairly clean m3 that just needed some tinkering and a tune up!

    Well have fun buying new throttle bodies in a couple of years. Those needle bearings start wearing down the chrome and fretting like hell after that. And...you can't get replacements. So it would be clever to disassemble them now and clean properly
