    Fixing bad FCAB threads

Edit: After a quick search I see others have dealt with this issue.

I used a cheapo autozone tap and made threads, probably not the best thing but really didn't have other options as the chaser didn't work.
I will run it as is if it torques to spec and keep an eye on it, worst case timesert it if/when the compromised threads fail.

I have some gakked up female threads on a few of my FCAB mounting points, I was able to use a thread chaser to good effect on 2 of the 4 holes.

Unfortunately on the other remaining holes the chaser will not thread all the way in and I don't want to force it and break it off.

In the holes that still have issues I put in a brand new bolt, ran it in about 3/4 up before resistance is felt, removed the bolt to find distorted threads on top few threads of the bolt.

I really have concerns using a regular tap as I do not want to remove material in this critical area.

    Any tips/tricks would be appreciated.

Should be good to go if you made good threads. It's steel 👍

If not, a timesert should hold it.

About the crossed threads, what led to the bolts not going in straight to the holes? Weak arms or bad eye sight, or both? Just kidding.

Here's what I do to avoid cross thread:
threading one bolt at a time. Use a screwdriver or a rod through the lollipop hole and the threaded hole, level it to align the said holes, then hold the lollipop in place and thread the 1st bolt in a few turns, then use the same rod again to leverage the lollipop 2nd hole against the frame 2nd hole in order to help threading the 1st bolt until the frame raised BOSS just aligned in the lollipop stepped hole; stop threading the 1st bolt. Now with the rod try to align the lollipop 2nd hole until the frame 2nd boss aligned with the lollipop 2nd stepped hole, install the 2nd bolt. Finish threading the bolts.
