How did you change the Windows language? I changed it in Regional Settings and removed all the Russian entries which is kind of hard but phone live translate helped a lot, but still no go. Fixed a registry key setting the code page to 0409. Still no. Then tried to install the XP SP3 EN over the top and it fails with an unreadable error (all question marks).

Is there a simple(r) way to do this?

Ahh I see you just meant changing the ETK application language which you show in your posts. Duh.

You don't really need to change the Wndows language but if you want to, this sequence changed most of it. Enough to usable if you need to do any Windows stuff

Boot VM
Run regedit
Edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Nls\Language\Default to "0409"
Edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Nls\Language\InstallLanguage to "0409"
Reboot
Install XP SP3 from https://www.catalog.update.microsoft...spx?q=KB936929
Reboot
Now you can change the Region etc in Control Panel->Regional and Language Options

Basically this relies on SP3 overwrting most things and using the English version results in a mostly English install but there will still be a few things here and there. Also things like the username will still be Russian. But good enough.

Easy, Sorry i wasn't more clear, I just left the windows language alone, Opened up the file in the photo below, with arrow pointed at it, Once loaded I navigated through the menu, until i found the language change inside ETK, My photos in the 1st post was to assist finding the language change section in ETK

Yes it's a pre built VM with Windows XP Pro already installed. But it was installed in Russian. It's not so simple to just change the language - the best solution is to actually reinstall Windows from scratch. But for this use case where you don't really care, this sort of hack is good enough.

And I have to say the realoem ads are a bit out of hand. Not only are there heaps, they keep refreshing every 10 or 20 seconds.

Facts ! ETK is super fast as well

I started a copy and pasting of real oem into a word file, to later print so i no longer have to get the laptop out

I would say RealOEM is generally faster even with the ads and allows easy bookmarking, no Russian VMs etc

Also saving pages only really works for one build type eg BL92 . Fine for yourself though. I'm a BL92 owner too though.

I sprung for $5/mo for RealOEM w/o ads, thought I'd contribute fwiw.

I did as well, even with ad blockers they were struggling on RealOEM. I get it for enthusiasts that don't use it everyday but $5 is nothing anymore.
