    Vintage Plates

Well the day that I was dreading has finally arrived. My 2001 now qualifies for vintage plates.

I am debating whether to go vintage.

    1. Advantages, no more annual registration fees, and no more state inspection.

    2. Disadvantages, strict mileage limits, although I rarely drive her anymore. Also, I don't want to think of my car as old and the vintage plates tend to have a different look and feel on the road and are better suited to a 57 Chevy.

    What do you guys think?

Varies by state. I have them on mine because in MN the plates are cleaner (plain white, no design, no reg stickers, black text) and cheaper (no annual reg). The only real stipulation is that you have to have another vehicle with standard registration. I'm not worried about the authorities tracking my use of the vehicle although the way things are going lately maybe I should.

      I prefer BMWCCA chapter plates.

Which state? In Illinois at 25 years old it's a no-brainer IMO for emissions exemption alone (for the counties in IL that test emissions). No mileage limits for Expanded-Use Antique from March through November.
