Every pound reduced sorta matters compared to cost and finish. My concern was price, fitment, and overall appearance. There are sometimes Karbonius CSL trunk lid that pop up in classified sections for a few hundred off MSRP, they become tempting. The Rogue trunk lids seem super rare so odds are it will need to be purchased as new.

In terms of construction, from the reviews being posted, the Rogue trunk lid seems to be well made.
From what I've seen from that shop they don't use a clear coat or an in-mold coating. So you'll need to find a good shop to prep and clear coat it. Epoxy is extremely chemical resistant which means clear coat will not chemically bond. If you are going to be really picky about the appearance and longevity of the clear then I'd quiz the shop first.

Typically the part will be finish sanded with something coarser than usual (320 or 220?) which will easily remove any parting lines as well.

WOW, first let me say THANK YOU for posting this.

This is the first actual verification of the trunk lid actually being 7lbs or less and not just reading it on a website or someone saying it feels light.

This will be going on a street car so I will need to run the lighting, wiring, license plate brackets, emblems, etc. Any issues there?

I also heard about having a lot of tiny holes in the resin which can be a PITA during painting. I assume this will require a ton of prep to sand and fill to avoid issues with paint? Did the bodyshop get upset or charge extra to paint and install?

Also, does having one shock vs two shocks effect the trunk lid opening or closing by having the shock force applied only to one side? You think any risk of misalignment over time having force applied on one side only?

Thanks again for the insight on this.

There should be 0 issues with license plate brackets, emblems, etc..

I have a good relationship with my body shop so they didn't kill me on the additional prepwork needed. However, I did get a few texts saying it was a PITA! LOL

I don't think there are any side effects to using a single shock. I thought this was a common fix to all that have CF CSL style bootlids and I haven't heard of any long term issues.

I had an OG Rogue Engineering full CF trunk very briefly... had it test fitted and had all the resin sanded and repoured. A guy drove by my house with an M3 and asked me if I was willing to sell it while I was having it fit and decided to let it go! Fitment seemed pretty great given my untrained eye, but nothing was out of wack. I'm sure that they've improved over the last 15 years.
