    ICE nerds 🤓

I don’t listen to my factory radio when I drive, but I occasionally listen to podcasts or songs I want to hear by playing them on my phone. I’m planning to remove the radio and install a blank plate in its place.

This got me thinking about whether there’s a small amplifier available, and what wattage would be needed to run the two front door speakers so I can listen to podcasts through a Bluetooth module. I plan on fully removing all the other speakers and depinning all the radio wiring.

If anyone has recommendations for speakers that would be good all-around performers, I’d really appreciate it. I understand that sound preference is subjective, but I’m open to suggestions. I’d also like to hide the amp behind the blank plate if possible.

I’ll DM you. I currently have Bluetooth capabilities with a CSL radio delete plate.

I plan to do something like this as well, but wasn't sure where the "best" place for a pair of speakers would be. For ease of install and shorter wiring I was thinking under the seats, but wasn't sure how much the seats would block/muffle the sound.

I've used these to good effect in car applications, primarily because at 93dB they don't need much power, which also means less distortion. They're also pretty much a plug and play fitment, might even work in the door locations for this car. They'll work for podcasts but not standup bass. And easily worth what they cost.

If your BT device has RCA outputs and can be installed behind the blank plate, I see no reason why a small amplifier can't go back there as well. I know they make them now and you won't need more than a 2-channel 50 watt'r. Think something like this ... https://a.co/d/01f968FS I wouldn't be surprised if you can find something where the BT is built into the amp -- 1 component not 2.

Whatdya know? People use them for boats. I see no reason it won't work in a car ... https://a.co/d/002fznbJ
