The tired tire selection...want to buy a set today

Technically for my e36 m3, but haven't bought tires in close to a decade, currently both M3's have Michelin PSS or PS4's, whatever model from 16 and 17, neither set have any real mileage on them, but they're both aged out. Anything else I should look at? Bought some 17x9.5's and its going to be a very tight fit to make these even work, but thought I'd ask the brain trust here before pulling trigger.

When I was shopping for 18"s last year, nothing was worth buying other than Pilots. All the reasonable alternatives were no more than $1-200 cheaper for the full set and seemed to run a higher risk of balance issues, louder road noise, poorer quality, etc. Might be a little different with 17"s but that was my experience.

      Continental Extreme Contact 02s.

Phenomenal tire and cheaper than PS4Ss and ride better too.

My current favorite do it all summer.

The conti's are pretty good, but they squirm pretty bad. Still a great option for people who don't care to push the car too much. But, to the point above Sha, what's the savings? I think it's less than $200 even on a full set of 4 (19").

And they aren't as good as ps4s not even close.

Depends what's available in the size you want.

For max summer it's going to be Sportcontact 7, Extreme Contact 02s, or PS4s

Once you step up (down?) to a 200tw tire the options get a lot more varied.

I personally went with the Azenis 660+. but not because I think they're the best, it just was what was available at the time. Plus, I like the tread pattern.

I had Discount grab me a set of the ps4's, currently $1100 installed, so not bad
            Contis were $1132 installed

200 options were thought about, but decided I didn’t want to hear every single pebble in the wheel wells

should be enough stretch on the 9.5’s to make it fit…hopefully

going to super tight on the rear with the Stromung can

and ya, those are Ryobi’s, they’ve kept trucking for the past decade, just won’t die

I have ps4s on my e46 right now but will go with the sport O2 when it comes time to upgrade.

WRL uses Conti ECF and Sport 02s as the dry/wet spec tires for all but the top classes. Many teams are using the O2 as their dry race tire as it is more consistent vs. the ECF. I did a dry 14 hr race in an friends s54 e36 m3 widebody racecar at Daytona in July on the O2 and I was blown away. Consistent feel each time I was in the car. Ran the same set for 14 hours and they had life left afterwards. Very impressed with these tires.

I ran both back to back and I like the Conti's better for everyday use. I didn't have any squirming or shimmy issues, very nice sidewalls and much more forgiving.

The cost savings equate to the mount and balance effectively being free lol.

If I want performance, i've come to terms with Michelin not being the ones to do it for me aka I'm going 200 TW aka cheater tires.

If the PS5S (sounds like a damn gaming console lol) comes out ever, I'd like to see how it compares but the PS4S has been out for a LONG time now. I think it's past it's prime.

After 2 years of 200tw, I'm kind over it lol PS4S is good for 90% of my driving, but I am actually now trying the new cup2s at 240tw - hopefully a good compromise.

Yea if you're not seeing anything other than fun roads on nicer days, 200 TW and better makes sense.

All my cars in SoCal need to be 405 compliant LOL

Apparently Cup2 with the BMW spec do better with much more negative camber, toe in, and lower pressures than what you would normally run.

This is something I was told last week so idk about that but it's all I know about them lol

I just got new Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02s and their certainly fine for what I'm doing. IMO, they are a hair more squishy but nothing I'm going to worry about. The Mach 1 HP has Sport Cup 2s. Now that is sticky damn tire. Brah, the tramlining though, jeebus. The 2025 GR Corolla has Michelin PS4s, good tire. The Plain Mustang GT has 19x10 square Falken A/S 460s, not bad. Basically, I've got a bit of everything. Once Kaiv's car gets here next week it will also get Continentals.

OTD for $1100, so I'm back on the old faithful ps4s.

About 99% positive I'll be needing to send this M3 out to live in San Diego, we sell the house next week, so I'm homeless and garageless in Houston!

So if ya see a Techno M3 with Texas plates on the weekends, say hello
