    Shops in Boston Area?

    Hello,

I recently moved to the Boston area and am looking to see if the forum has any wisdom on mechanics with experience working on E46 platform.

I was previously in NYC, where I used Motorcepts in Queens, and they were excellent. If anyone knows of any shops of similar quality, please let me know!

    Thanks

Wile looks like a great spot, thank you! If there are any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

          Wile can be trusted.

There are a few others a little further away in CT, not worth it really.

Wile is good, I’ve had them work on my old E46 and current E39 M5. Auto Engineering in Lexington is good but expensive. I’ve heard good things about Ace Performance but haven’t been there myself. Stefan at Arcs and Wrenches in Newmarket NH was the absolute best but he closed shop due to health reasons

This really depends on where in Boston you live.

20 miles around Boston can take you 2 hours.

Shops that have worked on all of my cars:

Ace Performance - Baer is a good friend
Auto Engineering - Entire shop knows my cars lmao
Wile - I've known Jake when he was working on cars at his house lol
Bavarian Performance Group - Used to go there when I lived in the North Shore
Import Autowerks - Alvin is cool people, he's a BMW master tech
South Shore Autoworks - Lots of ex BMW dealer fanatics here
European Autobody - Niko is my boy
Axion Motorworks - Jon is the homie, also BMW master tech
MStyle Motorworks - Wain has like 12 E46 M3's all in different colors and combos, also a very good friend of mine

Sharocks thank you for such a comprehensive list!

For more context - I live in between Back Bay and South End. I'm looking for a place to take my car for routine maintenance items (hopefully just that), as well as a place to refinish wheels as there's some rash on them. For those items, which shops would you recommend?

And separately - when I google European Autobody, there are a few shops with that name. Which one are you referring to?

I used to work in The Prudential so I'm very familiar with Back Bay.

There are no shops in that vicinity. You will have to travel outside of Boston proper for proper work.

For wheels in the area, everyone goes to RimPro in Tewksbury. They are right next to Ace Performance as well so that's an option too if you have a second car/a ride back down to Boston.

European Autobody in Framingham. Niko has an LSB E46 M3 and knows how to fabricate as well.

Out of all the shops in the area, for what you're looking for it's going to depend on if you are willing to travel.

I would say Auto Engineering is the best bet for everything but they're in Lexington and not necessarily close to you.

                          Another +1 for Wile.

I had great experience with Eurotech in Natick as well but it was with another car

Useful thread, I’m in southern NH. While there are eyes on it, how about body shop recs for paint work? I have a CSL trunk/diffuser to be painted, I mostly read about Mike’s Auto Body in Saugus.
