E46 M3 Supersprint Section 2 sits low and rattles

Just picked up a used supersprint section 2 to replace my old unresonated one. This is the first time the car has ran after a year.

To me it seemed like it was sitting a little low on the carrier. I replaced the bushings that hold it up with no change. (18207832991)

It now rattles..

Looking for some insight if anyone else ran into this and what they did to fix it? I looked at my old supersprint and it also looked low, just not rattling.

Used to have one of these and it sat 1-2mm above the V-brace. It also had an issue where the sealing ring pipe on one of the connections to the muffler did not line up perfectly. You would have to crank down the fasteners at that connection to make sure it sealed. It was an early version. Surprisingly, it did not rattle against the brace, even though it looked like it should have.

You can start by adjusting the muffler up to gain some clearance. If that does not work, a muffler shop should be able to put a dent in it right at that point to create some clearance. They all probably needed some clearancing there before they left the Supersprint factory. They crushed other sections of that pipe to get it to fit.

Sounds exactly like my issue. Going to crank on the muffler connection tomorrow. Ill report back.

Not the same exact issue, but I have a resonated section 2 from about 2021 and it has some major fitment issues. There was a bad batch of product around that time, lots of people had problems.

This may be related. I saw that there was some “clearancing” on the SS welded on heat shield.
