I have the RE Diablo (and their rasp pipe), but it does drone. It 100% does. It is not the worst drone I've ever heard.Originally posted by WBVenom View PostI haven't seen the Rogue Engineering El Diablo mentioned yet, so will add that to the list as it appears to check the OP's boxes sans potentially imperfect fitment.2003 | 3.91 | CMP Subframe & RTAB Bushings | SMG (Relocated & Rebuilt) | ESS Gen 3 Supercharger | Redish | Beisan | GC Coilovers & ARCAs | Imola Interior | RE Rasp | RE Diablo | Storm Motorwerks Paddles | Will ZCPM3 Shift Knob | Apex ARC-8 19x9, 19x9.5 | Sony XAV-AX5000 | BAVSOUND | CSL & 255 SMG Upgrades | Tiag | Vert w/Hardtop

While I agree about the loud aspect, the drone part is in part non existent in my setup. Full SSv1 and everything is dual 63.5 including the SS Race. I changed to the SS Race from and SCZA and I was disappointed it was literally the same on start up. Up until 4k rpm there is literally no difference other than less drone with the Race (probably in part due to it being way better flowing than an SCZA, maybe tied with the DINAN as best flowing exhaust). Above 4k/5k its pretty loud, but not loud enough to drown out the CSL Intake (I also still have my hood insulation in). Also butt dyno registered 5whp gain at top end with the Race.Originally posted by usdmej View Postthere is no combination of ss race that won't be super loud and droney. I'll never forget having an ss race installed as one of my first mods and having a headache by the time I made it back home
for your needs I'd suggest the following
low cost: stock everything + dinan muffler
more cost: euro headers, euro cats will get you noticably more aggressive and less raspy exhaust noise. you can fine tune your volume from there with different section 2s or mufflers
valved exhausts for e46 m3 can be two different volumes, but they're all built terribly by sketchy companies
Again I'm not a sound engineer, but going from a euro header to larger piping and thicker gauge material may yield slightly different results (visualize a type of "megaphone" setup). IF you pair the dual resonated sec 2 with the Race you will 100% no be as loud or droney than with the OEM sec2. That larger resonator, larger diameter piping, thicker gauge material does a lot for the volume of the exhaust. The loudest setup I've ever had was OEM Euro headers stock sec 1 2 and SCZA, probably also the best sounding. Very clean high pitched inline 6 sound that I miss a little bit.
And if you care to ever sell this stuff and try new things, SS is basically top of market for our chassis and you recoup a good portion your money quite easily. For me the chrome tips with the Cavalinos stamped on is something I dreamed about as a kid. Nothing looks better than SS at the rear end IMO.2006 Silber Grau Metalizat ZCP 6 MT

On my E46 M3, I had SS Stepped V1 with matching section 1 catted, SS dual pipe resonated section 2 amd tried differents section 3 mufflers (SS Sport, Scroza, Dinan, ...)
The best one I kept was the Meistershaft. Not too loud and love the sound it makes.Send me a pm for Gt4 Composites carbon fiber CSL parts

Eisemann catback or invest in a carbon airbox and leave it stock exhaust
