Any reason to not coat headers?

Got some €uro headers and there’s a Houston place called PolyDyn that’s pretty highly recommended.

Since 1979, PolyDyn Performance Coatings have been protecting and enhancing vital engine parts with their unique and innovative engine coatings.

I don’t see any downside to getting them coated? Should protect from corrosion and maybe keep some heat down in engine bay. Make sense to do that?

if going to spend the money get the swain tech white lightening, the other stuff is glorified paint. Downside is mainly just cost and harder to repair if there is some kind of failure

I used cerakote on my Boxster for corrosion resistance, as the headers on those things are exposed on the bottom of the car. They advertise with ceramic content, I don't know if it brings much in that regard.

My M3 also has that (cause why not), but what really gives you a cooler bay is thermal isolation on the headers (and a vented hood).

For a set of euro headers it seems like a good idea to have them coated. Wrapping them just turns your next oil leak into a fire accelerant. I see what the person is doing with the heat shielding welded over the top, but man that's a lot of work and I'm not sure how confident I would be that those welds would hold and it would stay "sealed."

I've had swaintech white lightning on my V1s for 14 years/100,000 miles/many track events, no issues. I have no idea how much it actually helps with power, but less engine bay heat and less corrosion only seems good to me, to whatever degree it actually does either.

I'd avoid wrapping exhaust components-- seems like a recipe for trouble.

I believe Swaintech is the only one that coats the headers inside and outside. I had mine coated about 6 years ago, there was a noticeable improvement in coolant temps. I'm an oddball since I have my expansion tank in the drug bin. I've considered coating the heat shields over the headers.

The downside is the service life of the headers is shorter. How much? No idea.

I had my euro headers (and equal length headers for my WRX STI) coated by Embee here in Southern California and they did an interior coating of the headers as well. IIRC it was copper-ish in color.

A local painter I know here in Germany. Any paint shop can spray ceracote on things.

The thermal protection I did myself. 3 evenings worth of work. It's easy, it was my first time handling a welding machine 😅
