    Glove box differences

Is there a difference between the coupe glovebox and the convertible?

my glovebox latch is not working correctly- my searching seems to indicate that I need to replace the glovebox latch. However, the convertible glove box lock (that’s what BMW seems to call the latch assembly) comes in two parts, a lower and upper. The convertible parts are NLA. However, the coupe parts are available.

Does anyone know if I can use the coupe latch in the convertible?

The photos I can see of the convertible latch has wires going into it- is there some sort of auto locking feature? I wonder if this has failed on my car, because I can’t open my glovebox right now.

The convertible has a motor that locks the glovebox when you lock the car. So if the top is down and the car is locked, the glovebox cannot be opened. You can replace it with a coupe unit but you will lose the auto-locking feature.

Yeah, I don’t care about the auto locking feature- I just need the glovebox latch to work.

          Thank you!

if it’s stuck locked, is there anyway to make it unlock and disconnect the wires? Once you open up the mechanism?
