Interior swap - front carpet question

Looking for tips on how best to install the replacement front carpet. I've got the dash and carpet (complete, middle section as well) pulled out and I'm ready to install everything back. The problem is the center of the console. How in the hell do i cram anything under it and how badly do i need to cut up the new carpet to get it to fit. Advice appreciated from those that have done it before.

The whole console has to come out and you need to just cut one spot on each side of the heater core / hvac assembly. Or you can take all that shit out but I didn’t want to. I swapped from gray to black and you can’t even see where it was cut to install the black carpet.
