I just completed rod bearings on my Z4M and after refilling with oil and running a few minutes idle to make sure all is ok, I noticed a leak from the bell housing intersection with the oil pan. I did this first fill with M1 15W-50 as just a few mile dump fill before I put the new filter and 10W-60 in. I noticed that both M1 15W-50 and BMW TPT 10W-60 both glow blue under UV light. The oil drip looks like the new M1 (no red hue ala Castrol). I then put yellow UV oil dye into the engine and ran it for a couple minutes. The leak persists slowly and is still glowing blue although it’s not been run very much. Oil is glowing yellow under filler cap and on dipstick. I see zero leaks from up top - I fixed chain tensioner leak and valve gasket leak previously. The CPV was also replaced and I cleaned the area again but did not see a leak from it.
So, if this is not CPV, not valve cover gasket or anything at back of engine that I can see, then it must be RMS or oil pan gasket? The only tricky thing is that the oil in the pan glows yellow not blue now and the leak remains blue. Is it possible this is my transmission front seal? I used Ravenol MTF-2 which has a color similar to engine oil.
