Subtle Underglow Options?

Disclaimer: I am fully prepared for the heat about to come my way.

I’ve always thought underglow was “neat” when used sparingly/never understood the hate unless too excessive or ridiculous colors..

i.e.: Some white or a soft blue but nothing extending too far away from the chassis.

Does anyone have any recommendations for quality kits?

To ensure you get at least one helpful response, I’ll help but need a picture of your car. I had under glow in the grill of my mk4 Jetta back in the day. That day was high school fyi.

Might be worth a read, I don't know anything about that stuff, will admit I thought it was cool in the late 90's on certain cars.

Try typesauto.com. It seems underglow is back in vogue. I would never drive with it on but I think it's pretty fun for night meets.

That is exactly the scenario during which I would be using it.

The fast and the furious movie came out my senior year in high school. I had an OZ Edition 2G DSM and I dreamed of under glow, haha. Even then I didn’t think it belonged on a BMW. Maybe if it had some crazy wide body kit or something. I love the idea of old trends coming back, but not on a bimmer.

The better kits use a reflector to disperse the light for a softer look and to conceal the light tubes...back in the days of using flourescent tubes. Those were the high dollar kits vs just bolting tubes to the bottom of the car.

I think it would be much easier with modern LEDs.

Finally, a thread that's a new topic.

If you did some very subtle 4300k lighting underneath the car and only used it for night car meets (LOL) then maybe it could be tasteful.

Or you can play around with the puddle lights to maybe project more on the ground when the doors are open.

This ultimately sounds like a Amazon try and figure out situation.

NGL, I've also had intrusive thoughts of underglow and did a bit of research. The overlanding/off-roading scene seems to be bringing it back and there's quite a few companies that now make PNP LED kits(mostly Amazon specials). Some of the kits are as simple LED "dots" to weather proof LED strips. The ones I've noted were Niilight and Govee as the Amazon special to just try out and then there's Diode Dynamics for the top $$$ stuff.
