I purchased the install kit from VYS Garage. Will update once I get started on the install.

Yeah, they definitely weigh more but if that doesn't bother you then I say these are cost effective to swap and look fantastic. I ended up supercharging recently so the added weight is not apparent to me lol.

How much weight does a forged wheel save?

My Volks RE30's are 17.2 lbs and 17.8 lbs.

M67 Double Spoke Polished (OEM 19)
8 J x 19 ET47 12,6 kg (x 2.2lb/kg = 27.72 lbs)
9 1/2 J x 19 ET27 13,3 kg ( x 2.2lb/kg = 29.26 lbs)


M67 Double Spoke Crome Shadow (OEM 18)
8 J x 18 ET47 11,2 kg (x 2.2lb/kg = 24.64 lbs)
9 J x 18 ET26 12,2 kg (x 2.2lb/kg = 26.84 lbs)

M163 Cross Spoke Painted (ZCP)
8 J x 19 ET47 10,5 kg = 23.1 lbs
9 1/2 J x 19 ET27 10,9 kg = 23.98 lbs

Also, as a frame of reference... 996 Brembos weigh about 20 lbs less than stock. So a 996 Brembo setup is roughly 40 lbs less than an F8X blue brake conversion.

The extra weight is a kill. You cam use the stock rotors with the f3x calipers if you mod the pad a bit to clear the hat.

however I think the best are either the Megan RS calipers or Aston’s DB9. The latter will have exact same clamping force. Megan’s will be a bit lower.

rear, stock, or if you fill like doing some mods, rear cayenne calipers, or e82 135 rears wilt with also e92 rotors.

The F8X conversion? Really? Might as well get new discs from Girodisc and some new pads from Random suppliers and call it a day with the ST60/ST40. A fresh powder coat to go along with it as well.

I think you nailed it with boat anchor, those 380mm are 24.91 pounds by themselves, and stock 348mm ZCP/CSL is 17 pounds. A Brembo GT BBK using 355x32 rotors is 16 pounds with rotor hat.

I think in the future i would love to do this conversion due to the ease of parts availability even though i love my ST60/40 Setup.

Sorry to revive such an old thread- are there any known 18" wheels that clear this BBK?

So is it better to use the f80 brakes with f30 rotors? Is that the key for the e46 oem+ upgrade using the f8x brakes? And will it clear 18" style 67 ?

I don't think you can use the heat shields. I actually tried this as well but they were just way too big and would have made contact with a bunch of stuff. It will be pretty obvious once you are in there.

I cannot find those brackets anywhere now. Any clue where to look?
