If you get ISTA+ setup (google it), you can access all the wiring diagrams through that. You don't even need to connect it to the car; you can just enter your VIN.

Its the big fat black wire in that connector, position #1 I believe.

sapote again thanks for your help so much, i am new to the forum and working on bmws. learning as we go, we are thinking its gotta be the starter. going to go ahead and change it and hope it works.

I would give a 12v to that heavy black wire and see if the starter crank before removing it which is not an easy job.
