Coilovers suggestions

Hello all,

Looking to lower my car a bit, I bought it with Dinan lowering springs and Koni shocks. After putting aftermarket wheels on the car, I need the ride height to go lower. I do enjoy driving the car hard from time to time on back roads, but I do not intend to track this car by any means. Looking for recommendations on the best riding coilover set up, with comfort in mind first. A quick conversation with ChatGPT said

It said Ohlins are the best option for ride comfort, but also mentioned that KW may be best because if use Ohlins and go too low might not ride as good as expected.

I am looking to go about another 3/4in lower than the dinan lowering springs have it. not looking to slam car or anything, just give it better ride height.

You’re going to find it impossible to have a “comfortable ride” going much lower than you are.
I just switched this week from the ST-XTA, which is essentially a V2 with camber plates, to the Bilstein B16 on OEM top mounts. Much more comfortable and usable on the street. I wish I would have got these to start with.

i’m happy with the tckline single adjustable set i recently installed, running 300lbs front and 600lbs rear for a flat ride based on the fcm spreadsheet. switched from a ground control set with 400lbs front and 500lbs rear springs. both set ups felt fine through the streets of LA (we’re talking downtown, skid row, ktown, echo park) but the tck is more compliant vs gc. haven’t had a chance to take it through the canyons with the tck set up but i really enjoyed the canyons on the gc. sorry if this makes your decision tougher 😜.

It's pretty hard to beat the ride comfort of Konis with stock mounts... if you're just needing to go a bit lower, you could try keeping your Konis and running something like the Eibach Sportline springs, which should be a bit lower than the Dinan springs. Remember to trim your bump stops if you end up going that direction.

V3’s were ok, I’d run stock mounts if doing it again, but I wouldn’t do it again.
GC SA’s were awful
Ohlins I didn’t spend any time on

for the last decade, I’d buy them again. Very very comfortable, outlast the KW V3’s, which I would never suggest.

I’d find a local and ask for a ride, usually several modified M3’s at Catalina Coffee on Sunday mornings, at least one of them is currently running Ohlins.

I'm probably the going to get flamed but I still vouch for the B12 Pro Kit (eibach springs and bilstein shocks/struts) has been pleasant as a daily and I deal with the 91/55 freeways potholes and imperfections without upsetting the car. Sits low enough

Bilstein PSS whatever is going to be better and cheaper for your use case.

I'm on the softest setting avaliable on my Ohlins and I find it undailyable in Seattle roads. Ohlins are NOT a comfortable ride.

Im running Bilstein PSS10s and they are pretty good for the street. Not harsh at all on the streets.
