V1 for the directional arrows. I've bought several different ones on eBay, second hand. I had two passports that didn't work right. On a budget I found the Beltronics (made by escort) rx 65 worked decent for the price.

Can’t stand the constant chirping of V1’s so never bothered with a detector myself. Waze was great until pandemic times and accuracy/reporting seems to have diminished significantly, so I’m just going off the usual spots where cops hide more than anything.

A few years back I paid to send in my V1 upgraded to the latest filtering software and it was still an absolute nuisance to the point I just grew to ignore it altogether. Then I wised up and reprogrammed it to only detect Ka (and laser but y'all know the deal with that). I spend my time in cities and major highways so the likelihood of finding some antique Mayberry ass cop still running K is nil.

With the V1 only chirping when it smells Ka, I am very attentive to it since any noise means cop. Sometimes I'll cover hundreds of miles without ever hearing a peep.

Same. I disabled X-band on my original V1 in the mid 90's and my second and current V1 I disabled K-band probably a good 15 years ago. I definitely don't poo-poo at all now as any alert is almost certainly genuine.

I got my Uniden R7 mounted as high up as I can and it's hardwired. Very lowkey spot and doesn't reduce visibility.

You gotta mess around with the settings to reduce the annoyance. I have auto mute after 3 seconds, and no voice alerts. I just have different sounds for each band that Ive remembered. Ka is the most common, but small towns still use K band. In my area they only use Ka(luckily no Laser) so I just reduce the K band sensitivity to further quiet it down.

So far Ive been loving the radar detector, however, ITS A TOOL. Don't rely on it.

Terrain makes a huge difference. And Cops are not stupid.

Ive encountered some cops that drive with only their rear radar antenna on, so as you're approaching them, no detection. Then as soon as you pass them, BANG your detector goes off. The one time this happened I was FLYING, but he didnt turn around. Makes me wonder if their rear radar only picks up their side of the highway? Or he just didnt wanna try haha

Would love a laser jammer. Been looking at ALP, but it sucks GPS is required for it to work now. You lose connection, there goes your protection.
