    I have a Uniden R7 and its awesome. I had it hardwired to my rear view mirror before I did my CF roof, when I removed it for some odd reason i can't get it to power back on with just the car.

    Anyone here use an Invisicord for their radar detector?

    I mount my V1 to the passenger's visor and hardwire it into the fusebox. I have the bluetooth module and it lives in the box as well. I use the JBV1 3rd-party app and hold the phone with a RAM mount. Newest version of the V1 (V1Gen2) has built in Bluetooth.

    Depending on where you live and how you like to drive, it may or may not be useful. It's extra information, but it's not a substitute for using your brain. On the highway, it won't stop you getting lasered, so you can't come barreling over blind rises and what not. It can help you reliably avoid traveling oncoming radar and sloppy constant-on speed traps. Sometimes you'll even get saves from instant-on in moderate traffic. I've never tried laser jamming, and where I live there isn't enough traffic for Waze, but I could see both of those being useful on the highway in more densely populated areas with more traffic and more laser.

    In the city, many find the falses rather annoying to the point where they hamstring the detector with filtering. Lots of hype around Theia for this reason. Personally, I find all extra information helpful above 40mph (just automute the thing below that using JBV1) and don't mind the falsing.

    Radar detection is extremely useful on country/back roads. Better returns on my V1 than index funds - that's for sure.

    I have a V1 that I wanna trade in for the V2. It's a warning but it's no Wazey. All my cars are hardwired for the V1 since I swap it out with me.

    What LJ do you have?

    My car came with an escort zr4 system but I don’t really trust it. It’s 2008 tech, I’d imagine it is pretty much useless today?

    Seems like a very expensive cat and mouse game, unless there is now a LJ on the market that can be updated.

    RADAR detectors are pretty useless in the age of LIDAR. It always surprises me to see people clamoring for RDs in the last decade, not sure where you people live lol. Even my sister's PD in a podunk city that is 2 square miles only had one RADAR set up and it was a rig mounted on a car, which the car itself finally got retired. They helped field test my laser jammers when I first installed them.

    I ran LJ + RD since 2011and a few years back removed my RD altogether. It was an older model that still triggered on everyone's adaptive cruise control so it made more noise than it was worth, but it only ever alerted on highway patrol cars parked in the median with their onboard rigs which you could see them anyway if you were paying attention, and those guys are always marked on Waze. Money better spent elsewhere and not drawing attention to my car from the police IMO.

    I'm sure everyone's gonna come out of the woodwork with their back country stories but I've been all over rural Florida and parts of the southeast (mostly GA) with a RD and personally haven't found it useful. My laser jammers have paid for themselves a hundred times over on the other hand. Only ticket I've gotten since 2011 was a Thanksgiving day air patrol back in 2015. -_-

    A person would have to be doing something pretty stupid for an officer to complain about placing a RD to the right and behind the review mirror (a portion of the glass that is already obstructed by the mirror).

    I love this setup because I get v1 performance, arrows, and upgradability plus the false alarm reduction of GPS lockout. The phone links to the v1 via Bluetooth automatically everytime I start the car- I never have to touch the iPhone.

    The V1 and iPhone are hardwired to switched power.

    Yup, not only that but some of the best canyon/mountain roads have no cell service so waze becomes useless.

    Get it if you drive a lot. It mostly has saved my ass on shit ass back roads where its easy to do 40mph in a 25mph zone, which is an extra wide double yellow road. Which makes no sense. Not like a populated residential street.
    I have a V1 as well, has saved my ass many times, mostly on back roads. The cops around here all love to drive around with the radar going so it's nice to know when they're getting close.

    My experience with Waze around here is about 70% of speed traps are reported so I'm hesitant to rely on it.

    I also have a V1connection and used it to setup the custom profile to filter out all the noise, it's not too difficult to do but it made a world of difference in the false alarms. Why it doesn't come set more like this out of the box is ridiculous, but I guess it isn't a 'one size firs all' kind of thing. Mine's hardwired above the rear view mirror. Having experienced other Escort and Passport detectors, I still like my V1. The knob/button is super easy to find and use. My dad has an escort mounted in the same spot in his 135, the buttons on top are terrible.
