Loud Aux Fan noise

Has anyone experienced excessive whirling noise from the Aux Fan p/n 64546988914?
Weather's getting hot and when it kicks in I can actually hear a constant humming in the cabin.
Initially thought it was the power steering pump or fluid on low... or the pulleys and belts. But i've narrowed it down to the Aux Fan.
Do I just replace it or shoot some WD40 and call it a day? Any input would be appreciated

Someone more knowledge than I may be able to you if its a variable speed fan - I believe it is via PWM using the integrated control box - and could be that you are only getting max speed. I've seen these setups fail to a constant-on state which obviously kills the battery.

Otherwise, sure it could be a failing motor and with the vehicle off, slowly move the blades with you hands to feel for any unusual resistance or grinding. Note this type of motor will probably have some "steps" as you rotate by hand - that's normal.

Thanks I'll try the rotation test see if there is any rubbing/grinding of the fan.
Im wondering if its also related to the thermostat or something other than the fan thats causing it to work so hard
