Anyone have any experience with the high pressure power steering hose?

FCP says Rein is OE, so I ordered that when I did a power steering refresh about a year ago. However, hose started weeping pretty bad after a recent track day. Comparing pictures, the BMW part looks different to the Rein part (crimp fittings are silver vs black), but that might just be outdated pictures.

I'll probably just order the genuine part this time, but wanted to see if anyone had compared them side by side.

Agreed, just go with the proven Genuine BMW Part on this. It lasts a long time and prob last one you’ll need.

I know this is only one data point, but I had a metal impeller one on my car (Geba I think) and it started leaking coolant through the bearing/shaft after only about 15k mi. Replaced it with the genuine BMW part and all has been good.

^ Thanks for the posting that. It looks like OE is the way to go for the seals.

Valve seals. BMW brand on the right. Corteco on the left.

I have the elring right next to me as well. BMW brand is different than all of them.

Is there an OE equivalent for the BMW ignition coil? Eldor or Bosch? I thought I remember there being a country of manufacturer change.

I remember doing this job and comparing the parts like you. Then I saw it was missing the
///M engraving and cried a little inside.

I made a thread about OE timing chain. Got the Bmw chain in and it is in fact IWIS. Both the timing and oil pump chain are IWIS!

I'm not worried about the hose part, that's pretty standard. It's the o-rings that seem to be an issue. You're better off reusing (lube it with silicone grease) your old stock o-ring (in each hose end) or getting upgraded aftermarket orings like from Wolfn8tr here on the forums.

Has anyone seen the quality of the Rein hoses compared to the BMW brand? Big price difference.

I believe the tank is Modine. Not sure about the hoses.
