For those inclined to do so, what type of recording device do you use?
go pro etc. And which one and why ?

GoPro - or the generic versions (the latter are generally good and much cheaper).

Know how you plan to mount it and control it.

Akaso V50X on a homemade headrest mount. POV is nearly perfect, I need to find a way to mount the camera a tad higher so you can see where I'm driving better. Other than that it's great!

I use a gopro 6 mounted onto the sunroof using a fat gecko three-arm mount (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I tried the headrest mount but it rattles too much. Also, with fixed back seats, I needed another way to mount and mounting it to the sunroof was the best until I get a cage.

Sony action cam. Used to use gopro suction cup mount to sunroof but now use sony rollbar mount. Much better than Gopro's! Haha
