Crank but no fire first key turn, starts right up second key turn?

    Are you just putting the key in and turning it straight to start? An old fuel pump will take longer to prime. Try letting the beeps stop before you attempt to start it.

    i had this exact issue. mine was fuel pump. replaced it with OE and started right up. After going through the process and doing research, seems like its a somewhat common issue.

    mine was 18 years old. Night and day difference.

    Symptoms in the title. Did some research and found this on E46 fanatics.

    Hey guys, so after my m3 has been sitting for 12 or more hours it will not start first try. Once I stop and crank it the second time it fires up and runs fine. Only does it after sitting all night. Common sense would tell me it's a fuel issue so iv already installed a new pump, filter, and...



    Tried to resurrect that old thread to see if it was the exhaust cam sensor but nothing yet. Any thoughts over here on root cause?
