    Maxxis VR-1 265/35-18 for street/track usage
theyr'e great on the street and good up to a limit on the track. get greasy near the end of the session. usually end up coming in early. but i guess that's what i get for trying to use one tire for 2 purposes.

That "statement" was the correct answer.

My car came with those Hankooks... I can't wait to get rid of them. PS4S is hard to beat, especially when Costco or Discount Tire has a crazy special on them.

However, if you've always run cheaper tires and want to continue running cheaper tires, you won't be missing anything.

They're a great tire if all you do is drive on the street and occasionally hit a few turns in the canyons, and you'll probably love them if you're coming from something atrocious like a PS2 or a Hankook V12 Evo. The PSS/PS4S are pretty shit if you mainly drive canyons, and forget about tracking on them unless you're just out to have some fun in beginner or low intermediate. They really don't handle heat well and don't even hold a candle to a proper performance street/track 200TW class tire for feedback, grip, and consistency with heat. The sidewalls are also quite compromised and favour ride quality over responsiveness and feedback. The stiffer your suspension/bushings/chassis is, the more you need a proper supportive tire sidewall or else you'll just feel the tire rolling around as soon as you load them up.

With that said I understand why they're popular, they are a great road tire but if you're planning on getting more serious with your car and your driving then it's time to move on.
Assume most people asking about tires are also not equipped with $2500+ per corner suspension 😂
