Recommend me some good HID bulbs

My passenger side low beam is cutting off/on intermittently. I was planning on getting new bulbs (unless this is a ballast issue, someone please advise).

I was leaning towards Morimoto, but does anyone have any recommendations for a good ~6000K bulb?

I hate to say it but some things really need a search (maybe even just duck it to get some in depth reviews beyond the scope of this website), some things don't need a whole thread. Like beating a dead turtle. But, while I am here - Morimoto is decent budget bulb (what I have now), OSRAM/Philips are the champs (what I had before but a loose ground destroyed). Avoid all amazon junk. TRS is your lightings best friend.

Stock must be closer to 5000k? I have some ~5500k halos.
Forgive my poor approximation of color temperature.

I ask here because my only prior HID experience is purely with aftermarket kits and retrofits on older cars and I value the recommendations of the like-minded

The seller "OSRAM" on Amazon is the official seller. Their products are genuine and verifiable on the OSRAM site with their verification tool - https://www.osram.com/appsj/trust/fr...o?locale=en_US The sellers to avoid are the "OSRAM Sylvania" or "OSRAM Xenarc". They use the official brand name and part of their product name in their seller names to throw buyers off.

I prefer the Nightbreakers to the 7k Cool Blues. The Blues are technically not road legal.

Stock is 4300k. Anything cooler than than is a functional downgrade, especially when it’s wet out.

The real area for a nice upgrade over stock is the projectors/lenses. Stock isn’t great there.

... but if your bulbs are original, they won’t be making anything near their original output. Plus bulbs can be brighter now. So, new 4300k bulbs will probably be noticeably better.

This is why I stay away from them for parts that matter. I am not convinced the osram tool is immune to hacking either but I never looked into it. Plus TRS has a bunch of cool lighting stuff. Plus the fact that amazon deliberately allows this stuff to happen all the time with zero attempt to curb it is one more reason not to go there when there is an alternative.

It is annoying to have to double check each product and seller on there. As long as the product can be verified genuine, that is all that matters.

Switch your bulbs side to side. If the problem follows it’s the bulb. If issue stays at the same side it’s either the ballast or the wiring. The wire can get frayed from the auto-leveling start up test feature over time.

Just stick to the factory option, can buy them from autozone etc. for $100 a bulb. You drive an M3, don’t want to cut corners and have it burn to the ground with an Amazon knockoff.

i have friends who deal with shutting down counterfeiters on amazon. It’s a HUGE problem and bezos doesn’t give a sh!t because he gets his money either way. I wouldn’t trust anything even oil off Amazon. I cringe when people say they buy TWS from there and other car parts.

that and sellers don’t really have a high profit margin as amazon takes a huge cut so I can see why knockoffs passed as genuine are common to maximize profit.

^^ 100 a bulb? You know that gets you a pair of CBI and almost two of the regular 66240’s

i got my set for 90 and they were original, so not all is bad. Do your homework and make your choice
