Ya or some sort of QC issue or something. 450lb-600lb is not excessive whatsoever. I had a rear koni s/a leak badly. I was only running 525 & 550. It happens.
Agreed. I do not see spring rate really having much effect on the life of a shock seal.
Eibach was polite but firm. The warranty is expired. A rear shock is $196.00. Because I have proof of original purchase they reduced it to $111.00.
Sucks your shocks blew out.at least you can by replacements.when mine blew they wouldn't sell me just the rear shocks.i had to buy the whole set up,front and rear.so instead I bought some koni adjustables.
After continually emailing me for the last week, informing me over and over that my order is in process, yesterday they cancelled my order stating the shocks are "no longer available."
Pretty disappointing, considering they are still selling the complete kit. Anyone considering the Eibach kit should be aware that parts are not made available.
My M3 wagon came on the EIbach coilovers. I thought they were pretty bad, before longevity was factored in. I sold them pretty quickly-- now running Dinan springs with Koni yellows (TCK konis in the rear) and it's waaaayyyyy better.
At high speed, in particular, the car never settled down on the Eibach coilovers. Felt borderline dangerous.

All jobs done as diy - clutch, rod bearings, rear subframe rebush, vanos, headers, cooling, suspension, etc.
PM for help in NorCal. Have a lot of specialty tools - vanos, pilot bearing puller, bushing press kit, valve adjustment, fcab, wheel bearing, engine support bar, etc.
Trey said they came with 400/450. I don't how in the world you come up with 400/450 when stock is 143/685 and most people are wanting a 1/2 even 1 to 3 ratio or there abouts (flat ride).
thanks... I want to remove the rear heigh adjuster from my coupe and run a fixed spring. I have the factory ones, but I wanted something a bit softer. even factory are on the stiff side
edit: my car is a Z4M coupe which is stiff as hell at the rear.
I worked at Eibach for 13 years and personally tested these with multiple rates. I recommended to most people to put the 450# spring from the back up front and then order a 550# spring for the rear. This makes a very noticeable difference. The shocks are also monotube with 195psi of nitrogen. They shouldn't blow out after 3 years but these are wear items.
I've had a modified version of these shocks on my M3 for 10 years with reservoirs (independent compression and rebound adjustments) and I'm on 650/750# springs. I just had the front shocks rebuilt last month for the first time.
