    Radio Doesn’t Work

I have a 2004 M3 with navigation and yesterday the radio kept turning off and on every few seconds. I checked all the fuses and they were good, I removed the nav unit and the radio module in the trunk. I even did a battery reset but The problem persisted, and now the radio just turned off completely. Could it be that the radio module gave out completely?

Could be a number of things. But if by"radio" you mean the speakers do not produce any sound from any source(CD/ Nav/ etc) then you should look at the BM53 radio receiver module. Its the silver box in your trunk where the amp and gps is located. These units are known to go bad over time and need a refresh. Ive had a bad one myself and replacing it with another used one resurrected my speakers

If it's just the audio that cut out, but the rest of the kit continued to work (changing stations on FM, etc), then likely the amplifier in the BM53 blew. There's a company that upgrades the amp in the U.K., and they may be able to fix it

      Thanks!

There is also a US source to get the BM53 fixed by the name bavtekinc. I called them multiple times and the same guy answers the phone and he is the person who also fixes it. But most notably the guy actually steered me toward buying a cheap used unit instead (which led to it being fixed). Was very frank and honest so i would recommend talking to him
