    Avant 4 user interface

Hey all, I just replaced the oem nav with an AVANT 4 unit with carplay.
Im slowly fixing one issue at a time using forums and youtube as guidance as the product doesnt come with much instructions.
Right now im having a problem changing out my homepage widgets. For some odd reason all the widgets in the homepage do not move. I cant seem to add nor subtract any widgets on that page alone. Meanwhile all the widgets in the other pages can be freely moved around.
Is there a homepage locking feature that is causing this? Any assist would be appreciated

Having just gone through the same thing as you, there is a reason for this - the home screen cannot be changed LOL.

THanks for the reply, but check out this review video at 22:55 mark. He is clearly editing his homepage widgets. Unless they changed the UI recently
Re-uploading without the ad banner for the video editing software. I really like the radio so far! Still trying to workout brightness issues, but that's what...

My comments are direct from Avin themselves and is based on if you have the latest version which has this screen:

        Hi Mike

        Sorry for the inconvenience.

The main screen cannot be programmed, you can only change the app order in the app interface.

I too was extremely disappointed, as I don't use either the free navigation or the music storage part (which on the main screen is for the SD card as you know), and so wanted to move two other apps into their place.

Fingers crossed for a firmware update that allows this.

Ok I'll send the Avin team an email to push for this as well.
One thing I did try was make a new page and push it forward to become the homepage. But it seems to revert back everytime i reboot. Maybe there is a way with this approach

Just a side note, so far Avin has been very courteous and responsive with their support so im happy in that regard. I had a bad canbus and they sent another one almost immediately after some messaging. Hopefully they will hear us out on this as well

Can’t you run a car launcher that is fully customizable?

You mean deleting the factory OS and installing another? Im not ready to do that yet since i just got this. I think it voids the warranty so maybe i'll get there eventually

A quick work-around is to create another page and move it to the front. Use that new page as the "homepage" and its fully customizable. The only catch is that the Avin has to be set to "sleep mode" in between start ups. If you have it set to "reboot" in between start ups then the factory homepage will revert back to the front. Its an acceptable compromise

perhaps you can download a different "App Launcher" app from the play store. Once selected it will be the default launcher. I've done this on other Andriod units with good results...not A4. YMMV
