    BMW Brand Locking Wheel Lugs!

Not m3 related but thought some of you might appreciate this. Didn’t know these existed and jumped on them when I could. Can’t beat an OEM solution...

They were $40 IIRC. Purchased from FCP Euro.

They are fucking trash, let me tell you. The key will work up to 3 times then starts twisting the teeth and finally snapping it off. I had to go through 5 keys to remove one lock that got tightened by a tire shop (my luck). Even if the locks were tightened to spec they still were susceptible to twisting the key.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye on the key thats for sure. Nobody touches my lugs except me so i'll make updates on the condition.

I think it’s something you can purchase from the dealer when you purchase your car. I got mine from ECS but took them off once keys became a problem.

Overtoqued or not seated properly. I have been removing wheels on multiple cars twice a year for over 5 years and still on the original keys.

Plus my understanding is that if someone wants to steal your wheels, they can still get these off... the only person it really stops is you when you're trying to change a flat on the side of the road and you can't find the key.

True. I thought about this as well. I just got this as somewhat of a deterrent. At least not *anybody* with a 17mm socket can come up and take my wheels. I opted for the BMW brand solution to try out.

I’m gonna order a 2nd key. One key hidden in my vehicle and another that lives at home.

Every bmw I’ve owned has had them and not had problems some of them must be 20-30 years old.

well sort of. it does the same job of holding the wheel on and are generally easy to deal with.

Mine came with the locks, good to know for future reference. I haven't had any issues so far and have had the wheels off/on maybe 5-6x under my ownership with no issues.
