My car had a Dinan supercharger in a past life, and when it was removed, the frontend ducting wasn't all put back correctly. I think I've got it all now, but can anyone explain why this hole is here on the driver's side? There's a cutout in the front ducting piece, and a cutout in the sheet metal. It almost seems intentional on BMWs part, so I'm wondering if I'm still missing a part here.

The passenger side is very explicitly sealed up, with only a little gap for the efan wire, making the big gap on the driver's side even more puzzling. Did they want some air to pass through to cool the air filter housing down or something? Would I be foolish to block it off?
