    PCV Drain Hose Connection

Discovered that my car was missing one of the lines that returns condensed oil back to the pan. Specifically I am missing #5 from the diagram below. I can see where it connects to #4 with the airbox off, but I am confused about where it connects back to the oil pan. The diagram indicates that it connects to the dipstick, but I can tell that isn't true from what I've seen with the airbox removed. Can someone give me some guidance on where to look when I go to install my new hose this weekend? Thanks!

I'll look for you today while I'm out there. I'm pretty sure it connects directly to the bottom of the airbox.

#3 is the part that connects to the airbox. SMG cars have an over-complicated 3 tube system to get around the SMG pump (6MT guys have a single tube straight from the airbox to the pan). I'm missing the final tube (#5) that connects back to the oil pan. I'm guessing that I'll have to remove the reinforcement plate from under the car to make the connection to the oil pan. I should be able to connect to #4 with the airbox removed. I'm guessing that I'll see the oil pan connection once I'm under there.

You should have good access from above with the airbox removed, and no need to remove anything from below. You're looking for a fitting cast into the top of the oil pan. Its next to the dipstick. See photo #4 here: https://prussianmotors.com/bmw-e46-m...2006-used-oem/

The lines you are fixing pull crankcase oil vapor.

You're a lifesaver! I don't think I'll be able to reach it from the top (SMG pump seems to be in the way), but it looks like I can access it with the front left wheel off. Thanks!
