    M3 Piston Recommendations?

So engine rebuild time. Excessive leaking piston rings under 110k miles. Car is mostly stock.
Was planning on honing and new stock rings, until I saw it was $900+ tax for 00 rings.
I figure at this point I'm just better off getting an aftermarket piston kit, possibly bore .5 oversize.
Any recommendations on a piston that will last without breaking the bank. Or better yet any recommendations on cheaper rings that are in oe tolerances? Don't want to have to replace them again later, or have issues with oil burning.

    Lukem3:

For $900, or a little more, you can buy a set of forged pistons with new rings. Look at CP, Mahle or CP-Carillo if you want to stay with stock 11.5:1 compression. The forged pistons weigh about 30%-40% less than the stock 470 gram piston.

What about harmonics/balance with a lighter position but leaving stock rods etc. stock this engine already wants to throw itself apart being an under square engine...

No idea. I'll do both rods and pistons at next rebuild/refresh.

Lighter bits really only improve things albeit not a large amount as the natural frequency of the system gets higher and inertia loads reduce. I’d look for a 4032 alloy if going forged and ask Mahle MS
