    Inpa status knock control

In INPA under digital values, is it normal for knock control to flash on and off while idling?

Not an inpa expert here but it sounds like “knock control” means the DME is pulling timing. If so, no- not normal

After reading this, I think it's probably normal. It would be nice if I could get confirmation from someone else running INPA. The car idles just fine with no misfires.

"For Bosch and Denso systems it works like this:
      Cylinder X fires
Control unit looks at the sensor signal from knock sensor (if more than one, looks at the one closest to the cylinder)
Control units decides that yes, cylinder knocked.
On the next time cylinder X is due to fire the timing on that cylinder is retarded 3 degrees from the timing map
      cylinder X fires
      (assume cylinder knocks again)
The next spark event is retarded 3 degrees again.
Lather rinse repeat until one of the following occurs:
Cylinder X stops knocking at which time after a while (a few thousand revolutions give or take) the control until will start advancing the timing about .3 degrees per firing event. This continues until the engine starts knocking or the timing is at the ignition map.
Engine moves to a different place in the load/speed range, in which case the values from the previous range are stored as a starting point for the next time the engine is in that load/speed range.
Ignition is turned off, values are stored for the next drive."

My car had the knock sensor toggle quite a bit at idle. I also had a completely blown head gasket so I’m not exactly sure if my cars idle is the best to judge this on. Slightly hunty on rpm during idle but nothing super crazy. Curious to see some other info on this
