Need help on Koni Ground Control Coilover setup

    Guys need help and opinion.

im running koni yellows adjustable and dinan springs (5/8 and 1/4) drop and my issue is the drop is very minimal. My goal is to remove the gap and not slam the car.

Solution i found is a used set of ground control coilover kit and i need help in making it work on my m3. What im having issues with is using the factory top hats? I took a screenshot and put number 1 and number 2? Is this correct? Looked at the gc website i am missing the silver top part (circled in yellow) so my best bet is to just buy the GC camber plates? Im lost..

for reference here is a video of a non m kit made to work on konis, guy cut the sleeve but im grinding the shocks instead

Here is my "Mostly Helpful" DIY for Koni Yellow and Ground control coilovers. ***road review coming in a day or so! I show how to adapt ground control sprin...

and here is the full kit with camber from GC

    Thanks all for the help.

You can buy the Turner upper spring perches from ECS, you need to know if your springs are 2.5in or 60mm and off you go

      GC stuff is 2.5"

I'm assuming you're going to be using 2.5" Eibach springs? if so, then you need a 2.5" upper seat. This can be included in buying some GC or other camber plates or you can buy it alone to be used with your stock hats, but...

I would not suggest lowering the car over an inch from stock without camber plates that will recapture most of that travel loss.

      What spring rates?

Anything much lighter than the GC popular 440lb 6", you're going to want to move up to a 7" spring up front.

Cobbling these various parts together, like I've done as well, is fun and creative, but you need to do a bit of research to not end up with a poorly working chassis (most likely on the bumps constantly).

it’s 2.5 and yes I have them included when purchased used but as you can see no way I can use the stock top hats unless I put it in directly as pictured.. I guess I may just buy a gc camber plates and install as pictured in the link which is springs the camber plates right away..

btw it’s a 6 and not sure what the spring rates but picture below

You need upper perches compatible with the stock top hats, they are about 100 bucks.

you will here all sorts of opinions, Some swear by them, others not so much. All I can say is I had aftermarket plates and went back to stock. To me ride and noise/maintenance free operation were higher in my priority list.

                let me be clear

so setup for the fronts will be the ff

koni yellow -> GC coilover sleeve (red) and gold collar -> 2.5inch springs -> Turner 2.5in Spring Perch Set -> top hats? or i still need the yellow plastic circle with bearing inside to go inside the perch?

                did i get this right?

edit: come to think of it, the one you linked looks the same as the missing piece in the GC picture i circled.

Yes, you need the bearing, and yes it goes between the aluminum OE top hat and the perch.

Did you end up getting everything together with the proper drop you needed?
