    Avin Avant 4 Problems

Like a few others, I purchased the Avin Avant on BF. Got a few freebies like the OBD2 adapter and a camera. Didn’t opt for the iBUS but did choose the wired CarPlay. I had a Dynavin HVAC relocation bracket laying around which I used.

My wired CarPlay isn’t working, the unit keeps asking me to stick the usb in the unit despite it being connected. Now I’m fairly certain that my cigarette lighter doesn’t work. Does the dongle need both a powered connection along with the data? That’s the only thing I can think of other than being sent an inoperable unit.

Secondly, Fuse #7 has blown for the second time. Anyone else have this occur to them?

    Any feedback?

Double check fuse 7 is the correct amps (refer to the actual sheet from BMW, not by what was in there before)
Did you use plug and play harnesses or did you cut/splice anything?

I don't remember this perfectly (and I don't use carplay so I don't know how it interfaces with the avin) but iidrc, on my Avin 3 there were two different types of plugs for USB input dongles on the back of the unit and only one allowed communication with the car for ibus or something. Double check or swap inputs for the USB dongles and see if that helps. Hope that makes sense, been a while since I was back there.

Mine does the same. I emailed avin and they were almost completely worthless and asked me to uninstall the app and then reinstall it. I didnt do that because im not a computer person and dont know how. I found that i had to go into the permission on the phone and make sure it allows the carplay to connect. I also noticed i cannot leave the phone plugged in if i go into the store quickly or ill have to unplug it and give it a few potatoes before it works again. That has helped about 80% of the time. Other times it just sucks and the bluetooth sounds like crap as well.
its basically a piece of crap and acts accordingly. Thats my opinion. Ill be replacing it in the future because this is an unacceptable level of “functionality”.

Avin is probably the worst to deal with, worst customer service ever. I would never recommend buying from these guys.

I had some issues with mine at first but like someone else said, I had to make sure that my android phone gave the system permission to access my phone. Did you have the dynavin wiring diagram to make sure that you hooked up the usb ports and cigarette lighter correctly? The first relocation bracket unit I got had a usb port not working and the plastic caps on the wiring insulation were a little finicky. If you haven't already figured it out, I would pull the unit back out and directly connect your phone to the car play dongle and bypass the dynavin to rule out that as the culprit.

The problem of Avin Avant 4 is firmware, their stock firmware is extra old, the insert technic is common chines unit, so firmware you can use from another system, depending processor px5 px6, or px6 with dsp. You can ask them for newer one, but i took modified firmware with some additions as for example additional dimming of screen, also on stock firmware car play even don't start

Sorry to hear about your problems. I think with Avin the customer support is a gamble. I had a decent experience where they immediately replaced the canbus unit. But i dont know if they would have been so receptive if my head unit was broke.
Almost all of my solutions to the issues i had in user interface was from reading threads and googling. So its a pain but its very likely to be out there and just have to dig the right places

Try plugging the USB cable from your phone into the dongle directly. The USB ports on the Dynavin brackets aren't great in terms of connectivity. I have it, and it frequently disconnects when I drive over bumps. I support all these notions of AVIN's bad customer service. It's really only a good unit for someone who is great at tinkering with stuff, not really a solution where someone can just install it and forget it.

im sorry to hear about your issues. but honestly, your best bet is to take that piece of garbage out and buy a real radio. when i got mine, the CarPlay didnt work either. i had to do a few updates and reinstall of the app. i have the Avant4 in my E46 and its the worst thing about owning my car. i took mine out of the car and reverted back to stock rather than that buggy, unreliable, poor sounding piece of crap lol i wouldnt recommend Avin to an enemy tbh..

It's a pity, of course the technique is a little damp, but after spending literally a day looking for answers in Google, you can solve 99% of all problems, and then the radio will become very convenient and good, but you also need to finish it with handles, for example, adding cooling Click image for larger version

Yeh, I experienced the same problems with CarPlay. Updated the second time and it’s been fine so far. Been over a year now. I love how the ///AVIN looks so oe and I have the comforts of a modern car: touchscreen, Bluetooth, CarPlay, etc.
