Well, this is a pleasant surprise!

Been out of the community for a while, but thought I'd check in on the M3Forum just to find it was gone.

On a whim, did a Google for some E46 info and saw this place - once I saw Obioban was here, I figured this was the place that came after M3Forum died, so I figured I'd join up.

Really glad to see another place is up - especially since I hope to be getting some work done on my M3 and getting her back to a better place.

I got a job with the Forest Service back in June and moved to Wyoming from Ohio. Being that I figured my Jeep Wrangler would be a better fit out here, I left my M3 with my folks when I moved here.

Tomorrow I'm going to call up a shop back home and have my dad take it over to get a thorough going over to see what all I need to do to get her back in shape - and I have a feeling I'm not going to like the price at all. Especially if it's going to get it back up to snuff to take a 1500mi drive over a couple days.

If you folks remember on the old forums, I'm the guy who had the massive mold problem in his car. Thanks to a generous member on the M3Forum, I was able to get things back to normal for a very good price. Regardless, some day I'm going to try to convert the interior of my car to a black/cinnamon from the dove grey it currently has.

I'm looking to find some housing by summer in 2021, and the closest place to where I am that has decent options is about 40min drive away on the interstate (48mi, but the speed limit here is 80). This would be a lot better drive in the M3 than my Jeep (especially in fuel costs). Only real issue is that the interstate that connects the town is absolutely atrocious in the winter (I think they shut it down over 300 times last year I'm told), but thanks to COVID, we're doing a lot of teleworking anyway.

I've honestly considered selling it. Less on my insurance payment, one less registered vehicle, no more money to maintain it, etc. But this car is super special to me. I know I'd hate myself if I sold it. It's an incredible vehicle and now that I've finally landed a career, I can afford to take better care of it. Treat it the way it should have been treated.

I've also looked online - Mystic Blue Metallic in a 6MT Coupe is really hard to find. I don't think I've come across another.

Welcome to NAM3 forum and congrats on the new career! Good to hear you’re keeping the ol girl. We all had a similar experience when discovering M3F was gone. Pretty disappointing. But there’s a great culture here, much like there was in your car

Oh gosh. How did that mold accumulate - just from being stored in a damp area for a prolonged period of time?

Can't argue about the colour, though I may be positively biased haha

Your Mystic Blue is about the only car that looks good with the Gray interior. Personally, I'd keep it Gray and spend my money elsewhere on that beaut.

I had parked the M3 in late October/Early November and covered it not knowing that one of the sunroof gutters was unattached. Well, one day a storm blew through in Febuary-ish, I think, and blew the cover off the car. That's when I saw how much moisture had gotten in and the mold just went ham on it. I tried to do an insurance claim on it, but they don't do mold claims. Add that it sat out in the sun at the shop waiting for the claims adjuster to show up for a week, and the mold inside dried out. I got a local place with a high temp steam cleaner to detail the interior and ran Ozone in it I believe, to try and kill everything. I reattached the gutter and it appears to have fixed the moisture issue, but the back deck is stained from the dried mold.

It honestly depends on if I can find a cinnamon interior when the time comes or not. If I can't, I'll just have to go with gray. I'd like to replace just about everything inside thanks to the mold.

Have you tried any products to help with the mold and stains? I've had a little experience with this product and it seemed to work really well. It claims to make mold and stains disappear. Take a look and decide for yourself.

Try watching some of Larry Kosilla’s AMMO NYC videos. The level of detail he goes into to clean cars is incredible. Especially the ones with mold damage.
