Are OEM/OE rear shock mounts (RSM) to be avoided?

Been shopping for RSMs to go on my Ohlins for 95% street use and all the aftermarket vendors seem to indicate that the OEM/OE are too weak, not durable, or has a factory defect.

Would like to hear feedback from folks on this.

I've been eyeing these so far:
    • Rogue Engineering
    • ECS Ultimate
    • Ground Control
    • OE
    Thanks!

I have been very happy with my Vorshlag RSM’s.

Rogues are basically OEM+ with no real downside

I’ve had the RE ones with my TCK DAs for about 8 years, no issues or complaints. The OE ones are known to fail but I don’t know how much is exaggerated on the forums or due to heavy track use with super stiff springs and shocks.

I've ran my Meyle HD mounts with Bilstein B4s for about 20k kms with a bunch of autox and a handful of track days with no issues. Then swapped to GC RSMs with GC DAs with no issues as well, granted I've only had them on for ~1k kms so far.

When you guys are talking about RE RSMs, do you mean the ball joint ones or the rubber ones?

I have had a pair of OE style Meyle HD on an E36 M3 for 15 years and 100+ k miles.
              No noises.
Did track events on GC school coilover kit, and later, with Bilstein B8/OEM suspension.
These were probably of German production though.
I bought the same for the E 46 and they are made in Turkey, so ymmv I suppose.

I run rubber on my caged track car. I have a 700lb rear springs which will likely shorten the lifespan. They work fine for me.

I’d probably stick with rubber for a street car.

Been running Rogue Engineering (heavy duty) for close to 20 years on Bilstein PSS9s and never an issue.
They also incorporate reinforcement rings and install from underneath which are both pluses in my book.
