Just curious if you guys use the specific mount tool to slide the RMS onto the shaft... I was watching FCP euro video and they used a white plastic guide to slide the main seal in the housing onto the rear shaft.
Any issues doing this without the guide?

I did this on an S52 recently, but it should be the same concept. The kit came with the plastic guide, and my understanding is that you're 100% supposed to use it to do the job properly. I bought an OE BMW RMS kit, did yours not come with it?

It looks like you can buy "OE" Corteco and it does include a white guide: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...706785#fitment

The guide is really hard to see in the photos (their photography blew it out but I can barely make it out), but it's mentioned as included in the description.

I spent extra $$ to get the full OE BMW kit because I didn't see the need to do the job twice...

I've bought the entire OE kit just to be on the safer side.
There is also a tool to install the seal. It is in one of the e46 videos that FCP has done. You can buy it and rent it out.

Also for anyone that has done this, did you notice oil leaking from one of the RMS carrier bolt hole(at 1'o clock position)? On my car, after I removed the carrier out, oil started dripping and wouldn't stop. So I had to drain the oil from the engine.

The kit is 115$ and the rms alone is like 12$. The rms comes w the plastic guide and makes it a breeze. The tool to reseat the seal in the metal housing can be had for 50$ so if u can find the tool its worth about 40$ savings and the install is just about fool proof. I got the tool from fcp but it was on back order. Either way is fine and the rms is not difficult. Fms is a different story.

Oh and you have to follow the tis....u need to permatex the gasket and the housing and oil pan at the corner junction

installing the seal in the housing is not an issue at all. you just need to have a look at the original and remember how it sits, use the old seal to drive in the new one in the exact location. no tools needed tbh, its just full proof if you have one. I was not aware of the guide for the rms, just wanted to make sure this is something I can get with the seal at the same time.

I’ll add that it helps to freeze the seal and boil the seal housing. Goes in easy. Don’t forget to order the rms housing gasket.
