Modified launch control rpm for SMG?

There’s really not a lot of info on this so I wonder if there’s a way to change the rpm limit on the launch control for SMG. I know you can tune it for a manual but what about the SMG? Wouldn’t it be the same concept and wouldn’t it work better for SMG since launch control works to reduce as much wheel spin as possible?

You can upload the csl tune for the smg. It bumps the launch control up to 4500 rpm and makes shifts a little more aggressive if I recall correctly. I ran it for a while before I converted to a manual. If it’s not something you feel comfortable messing with, there’s a few companies that have smg tunes. I believe frank from TTFS did one.

The euro tune has a higher launch RPM than the US tune, and I think (maybe) the CSL has a higher launch RPM still-- so there's two factory options (maybe).

I don't believe anyone actually tunes the SMG tune-- just charges you to install the CSL or euro tunes (which can be had for nearly free).

I’ve heard about the Euro tune but doesn’t it only bump up the limiter to a few hundred rpm?

Hmm, I’ve had the CSL tune before and I’ve never heard about this. Do you know what company made the tune?

It’s been a few years, I followed the diy on m3forum to upload it from the bmwtools suite. The csl tune was the factory tune made by BMW. It made a big difference over the stock launch control we got in the US. Frank at TTFS supposedly made his own changes to the smg files but I don’t have experience with his product. You can always shoot him an email and ask.
