    S2R Tuning—Contact Problem

    Hey Guys,
Has anyone successfully completed an order from S2R tuning recently for a sunroof delete panel? I have heard great things about the fit and finish of the panel so I ordered one back in early December. Hell, I had forgotten about it but my car is off at the Spa getting a ton of work done (mainly track safety, and supersprint...).

Long story short, I called the guy and asked him what had happened with my order. He said he would look into it and get back with me. This was on Monday. I called him again Tuesday and he said he was looking into the track number. I called him yesterday and he didn’t pick up so I left him a message. I’m not trying to pester him, I’m just trying to get the panel as the shop is waiting on it to finish the car. I’m not speaking I’ll of the man or the company, I’m just seeing if anyone has had a recent order completed so I know they are shipping them out.

Side Note—Anyone have a Carbon panel who really likes the fit and finish. Who makes it.....?

I know some things are stuck in transit (not specific to S2R) due to recent covid spikes and folks still coming back and getting into the grove after the new year, and items aggregate in courier's warehouses so it's hard to say sometimes where your item is. I even called some of the couriers and they say they don't know where things are until the warehouses process/scan the item to get updates. A lot of times the courier system has the same updates as you see (no better or additional info). I know your case is different since you don't have a tracking number. Sometimes tracking is not generated/emailed until the warehouse processes/scans the item.

Your other question, I liked my recent version of AJ Hartman panel. Pricier than S2R.

I had a terrible experience trying to buy direct. Had 3 wks of no response. Ended up filing a claim with PayPal to cancel the order. I was able to get one from Hard Motorsport. I’ve never seen any others, but the S2R seems to fit just fine. The carbon fiber is just for looks...it’s applied over the top of the fiberglass...I’d be the CF version weighs a smidge more than non CF. BUT, it does save the effort of painting.

Guys, the S2R Tuning CF version isn't just a layered CF wrap over and Alex takes a lot of pride in the quality and fitment.

The product has gone through a number of revisions and are produced in batches, just like many other products. It's not his day job though, so hang tight, he'll deliver. I ordered mine last summer and it took a month or so to arrive iirc.

My S2R panel fits beyond spot on and would be one of the first mods if I ever purchased another sunroof equipped E46.

Ah, also since you ordered in early December (I missed that part initially, thought it was already shipped and you were looking for tracking updates), I think turnaround time is normally 4-6 weeks, with holidays mixed in it might be longer to make them.

Glad to hear this, a CF sunroof delete panel is on my list of future to-do's (after more seat time and if I want to take the car to a more track oreinted directions). S2R was the first I saw to offer this, but have seen from other brands and was curious which had best fitment.

Assuming you've installed it, is there any chance you'd do a write up or a diy on the install? My headliner is sagging and was considering leaving it off as well, not sure how that would work with the other interior panels.

So...........I tried to call him again and he didn’t pick up. He texted me that he was in a meeting and asked what he could help me with. He said he “found my order” despite me making that order on December 7, 2019. He said he would try to get it out “as soon as he can.” I offered to pay extra money to have the item shipped faster to my builder. No response.

I guess I’ll just leave it at that.

Get it out as soon as he can - doesn't mean he can just pick it up from a shelf of other 1000s of premade panels, pack it up for you and overnight it for extra money. Like I mentioned, lead time on these is usually at least several weeks. So he found the order, now he has to actually make the panel for you. I would suggest you don't rush this process because I have seen half baked panels before when a young tech is rushed and qc suffers.

                    But I get your situation...

I must have been lucky early last year because I emailed him asking for the lead time and he said it was in stock. I placed an order and received it a few days later, all under a week.

Fit and finish was spot on.

As far as your comment on fit - mine had a full half holes drilled right at the edge. One hole was drilled into the edge making it an open "C".

I had to create stacked washers to secure it. No way screws would secure it at the edges.

                          When did you order this?

The one I ordered from Bimmerworld had terrible fitment, similar to that.

Yea, I get it. I have tried really hard to be cordial and level-headed in this post. I had no idea of his supply? I’m not mad, I guess I just assumed if he received my order and was out of stock or needed some time he would have let me know. It’s not so much that there was a delay, it’s that I had search to find out there was a delay and remind them then find out they just hadn’t worked on my order. It’s not the end of the world, but at the same time I was really excited to get all this work done on my car and I ran into an unforeseen delay. Again, I have heard nothing but great things about their products and that they make the best panel, which is why I ordered from them. I’m not trying to offend anyone here.
