    CSL Airbox Question - 2005 M3 SMG

Prepping for my Karbonius airbox install.

My M3 has the following ventilation hose with a sensor attached to it. I've performed two other airbox installs but both of them didn't have #2 pictured below.

Is this sensor rerouted or deleted when I do the airbox install?

weird, mine is a 2005 and its hose is as per the "2002 csl diagram" you've posted above.

The CSL tune won't recognize that sensor and the default position of that valve is open, or at least I believe it is.
My 2004 had that setup and I removed it and installed a vacuum cap over the place on the air rail that the smaller tube/valve was once attached to. I later bought an air rail that didn't have the extra port/clip for that valve purely for looks.

I have seen numerous photos of CSL airboxes and people kept that valve in place so I honestly don't know if it matters or not.

Edit: I asked a similar question when I did my airbox install.

Doing a CSL box soon, I've got a CSL breather and had planned on modifying it to hook into the little tube/valve on a standard (US Spec.) M3. After looking at pictures of different people's CSL box installs I've noticed the vast majority do not modify their CSL breather. What effect does eliminating this extra tube/valve and

Thanks for the reply. Great info you've got in your thread!

I'll probably just pick up a new air rail and be done with it. Do you happen to have the part number handy? Is it a 1 for 1 swap with the rail?

          Part no. 13547831481

Yes, it's just a simple swap one for the other.

If running AlphaN on a later model car, I guess that valve will still be operational? Best option would then be to modify a CSL tube to work with that sensor still in place?

In the other thread, they were saying that the valve is open as a default. IMO, the best option is to get a new rail and just delete the valve.

I don't have first hand information to say whether or not the Alpha-N tune will still recognize the valve. Cubieman's thread mentioned that the valve would not be recognized.

Check Cubieman's thread, lots of great info in there.
