    Transmission mount recommendations

Forum and Google search has turned up OE/OEM and Rogue. Any others popular choices for a non-track car?

I run the Vorshlag engine and transmission mounts.

Install tip for our polyurethane mounts: Install the mounts and lower the drivetrain back in place. Tighten the nut on the "bolt-thru" stud lightly, until it touches the main plate. Keep tightening until the bushing starts to bulge, then back it off 1/2 turn. That's it. Tightening more will only squeeze the bushing mor

Word of warning, any tranny bush besides rubber will be a NVH nightmare.

Rogue Engineering states this on this website:

"Application Note: Transmission mounts are NOT required or necessary for vehicles equipped with automatic or SMG transmissions."

So regarding SMG transmissions, is Rogue still an applicable option? Always thought the bushings were identical between manual and smg.

Yes but there's no point in firming it up with an SMG. You're not shifting it with a lever that can benefit from the trans staying as still as possible. The SMG can't mis-shift...

Could make SMG shifts even better while turning?

I believe the SMG shift knob assembly is purely an electronic connection that sends signals, and the SMG shift arm mechanism (no idea what the actual name is) is solidly mounted to the transmission itself. So any which way the transmission moves due to play in the trans bushings, the shift mechanism moves with it.

Versus a manual where the gear knob is a lever that pivots to act on the selector rod. Hence the shift gates moving around with the transmission and where the benefit of stiffer trans mounts comes from. Like trying to hit a moving target.

Granted, I could be entirely wrong too.

Why not OE? They last forever, very inexpensive and are literally designed for the car.

I had poly bushings for a short while. Big mistake.
                    Just some old shitty cars.

Thank all, I feel kind of dumb for not considering the SMG aspect. Either way, the OE and Rogue are not a huge difference in price.

From an SMG guy...I've had the VT mounts in my car for at least 5 yrs, and there's ZERO increase in NVH, just a more positive direct feel during acceleration/gear changes.

Neither did I... but I’m subscribed because that theory doesn’t actually make sense to me... I’ve a bunch of auto shift cars and never have I heard that transmission mounts are rendered meaningless therefore... especially in this one where it’s the same manual transmission just mated to a hydro-electro shift actuator.

So far, I’m hearing OE and Rogue... what’s VT?... if there’s n improvement to be had over OE, I’m in for it... not that this thing needs to shift any firmer than DSC off +6.

                          maw

                            Definitely.
I understand that the OP is not tracking his car, but firmer trans mounts would be a definite benefit when the drivetrain is twisting and deforming the mounts as you apply throttle enthusiastically/pdq on corner exit.

I'm running RE mounts but with BW Group N motor mounts. It has NVH but it's solid with the AS SSK.

For an SMG car idk if it needs some flex or not.
